On Thursday 6 October and Friday 7 October 2016, the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) will conduct a public forum to examine whether publicising allegations of corrupt conduct is in the public interest. The public forum was announced in June by CCC Chairperson Alan MacSporran QC.
The CCC received over 50 submissions in response to a discussion paper titled Making allegations of corrupt conduct public: Is it in the public interest?
Tomorrow and Friday a number of authors of those submissions will have the opportunity to discuss their views with members of the public forum panel.
A schedule of speakers can be found here.
The panel consists of:
- Mr Alan MacSporran QC - CCC Chairperson
- Mr Marshall Irwin - CCC Ordinary Commissioner,
- Mr Richard Bingham - Queensland Integrity Commissioner and
- Dr Rebecca Denning - CCC Director, Policy and Research.
The public forum will commence at 9:00am and it is requested that media who are attending the forum arrive 30 minutes prior to commencement to allow for security screening and sign-in procedures.
The public forum will also be live streamed via the CCC’s website. Media are welcome to follow the forum via the live stream.
