Police officers with grievances about promotions, transfers and disciplinary matters other than misconduct can apply to have these decisions reviewed.

In Queensland, appeals are heard by an independent Review Commissioner external to the Queensland Police Service (QPS).

QPS and this Office are piloting a revised timetable for finalising reviews about promotions. The revised timetable will apply to all promotion reviews lodged against promotion notifications which appear in the Police Gazette on and after 17 March 2023.

The pilot is expected to be conducted over six months. It is designed to reduce the time between the lodgement of an application to review and the provision of a Report to the Commissioner of Police by the relevant Review Commissioner. This pilot covers all non-commissioned officer positions
