Review of the G20 (Safety and Security) Act 2013

The G20 (Safety and Security) Act 2013, or the G20 Act, was reviewed by the CCC to determine its effectiveness for the 2014 events, and to identify lessons that would assist in providing security to future events in Queensland.

During March and early April 2015, the CCC invited stakeholders and members of the public to contribute to the review. The consultation paper provides information about the G20 Act and the key issues -

The CCC provided its report to the Commissioner of Police in late August 2015. The QPS was entitled to use this research to prepare its report to the Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Minister for Corrective Services by 17 October 2015 (as required by section 98 of the G20 Act).  The Minister was required to table the report in Parliament.
