A 37-year-old Footscray woman has been charged with extortion following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The woman was arrested by Victoria Police detectives this morning in Footscray after the CCC issued a warrant for her arrest. The woman appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today where she was remanded in custody. She will be extradited to Brisbane and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, 14 September 2017.

The woman was charged with:

  • 1 x extortion contrary to section 415(1)(a)(i)&(b) of the Criminal Code.

As the CCC’s investigation remains ongoing and these matters are now before the court, the CCC is unable to comment further.
