The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has determined it is in the public interest to provide an update on its assessment of allegations of corrupt conduct relating to the Premier’s Chief of Staff.

The CCC commenced its assessment following the receipt of a complaint on 29 July 2019.

The CCC has determined to await the outcome of a review by the Department of Premier and Cabinet into the grant allocation process and how it related to Fortress Capstone Pty Ltd before finalising the assessment.  The CCC is aware the Department has engaged an external company to conduct the review.

Consistent with all units of public administration, under section 38 of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Department must notify the CCC if it reasonably suspects that a complaint or information involves, or may involve, corrupt conduct.

The CCC will continue its assessment of this matter once it has received the review from the Department. The Department has advised the CCC at this stage it expects the review will be completed by the end of August.
