A former researcher at the University of Queensland will appear in court on six fraud related offences following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation into allegations of research fraud and the misuse of associated grant money.
A 29-year-old* Kuraby woman was today issued with a Notice to Appear in Court. The CCC will allege she dishonestly applied for grant funds. The six offences include:
- 2 x fraud contrary to Section 408C of the Queensland Criminal Code
- 2 x attempted fraud contrary to Section 408C of the Queensland Criminal Code
- 2 x general dishonesty contrary to Section 135.1 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Commonwealth).
The 29-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 6 November 2014.
The CCC’s investigation remains ongoing and further charges are expected.
As the investigation is ongoing, and this matter is now before the court, the CCC will not comment further.
