A 37-year old Holland Park man and a 42-year old Coorparoo man will face a range of serious criminal offences after the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) identified them allegedly in possession of child exploitation material.

Yesterday (20 October 2016), the CCC executed two search warrants at Holland Park and Coorparoo. It will be alleged the men were in possession of child exploitation material and were using computer software to access child exploitation material, including image and movie files.

A number of computer and electronic storage devices were forensically examined by the CCC.

The CCC was assisted by members of the Queensland Police Service Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit.

The 37-year-old Holland Park man was charged with

  • 2 x Possessing Child Exploitation Material contrary to section 288D of the Qld Criminal Code 1899;
  • 1 x Use a carriage service to access child pornography material contrary to section 474.19 (1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) of the Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995 and
  • 1 x Use a carriage service to make available child pornography material contrary to section 474.19(1) (a)(iii)&(aa)(b) of the Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995

The 37-year-old man also possessed a Blue Card. This was seized and the CCC is advising appropriate authorities. It is not alleged the man currently has access to children.

The 42-year-old Coorparoo man was charged with:

  • 2 x Possessing Child Exploitation Material contrary to section 288D of the Qld Criminal Code 1899;
  • 1 x Use a carriage service to access child pornography material contrary to section 474.19 (1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) of the Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995

Both men are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 30 November 2016.

As these matters are now before the court, it is not appropriate for the CCC to comment further.
