Three men have been charged today with aggravated fraud following a joint Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) and Queensland Police Service (QPS) State Crime Command investigation into suspected criminal activity within elements of the legal profession in Queensland.
The men were arrested today by CCC and QPS officers and transported to the Brisbane City Watchhouse where they were formally charged.
A 48-year-old Upper Brookfield man was charged with aggravated fraud contrary to sections 408C(1)(a)(ii), (2)(c), (2)(d) of the Queensland Criminal Code. He was also charged with eight counts of fraudulent falsification of records contrary to section 430(e) of the Queensland Criminal Code.
A 32-year-old Camp Hill man and a 29-year-old Toowong man were both charged with one count of aggravated fraud contrary to sections 408C(1)(a)(ii), (2)(c), (2)(d) of the Queensland Criminal Code.
The men were bailed and are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 23 November 2017.
The CCC is continuing to investigate suspected criminal activity within elements of the legal profession in Queensland.
As this investigation remains ongoing and this matter is now before the court, the CCC is unable to comment further.
The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
