The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has charged a 56-year-old Strathpine man with 16 child exploitation offences.
During a covert investigation, the CCC allegedly detected the man accessing, sharing and possessing child exploitation material (CEM) online.
Detectives from the CCC’s Cerberus team and investigators from the forensic computing unit executed a search warrant at property in Strathpine this morning (15 September 2015). They were assisted by officers from the Queensland Police Service’s Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit.
They located and seized a number of computers and storage devices. It will be alleged that five of the storage devices contained CEM.
The 56-year-old man has been charged with the following offences:
- 10 counts of using a carriage service to make available child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 Criminal Code (Commonwealth)
- 5 counts of possessing child exploitation material, contrary to section 228D Criminal Code (Qld)
- 1 count of using a carriage service to access child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 Criminal Code (Commonwealth)
He is scheduled to appear in the Petrie Magistrates Court on 2 November 2015.
The CCC’s investigation is ongoing. As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC will not comment further.
