Three additional people have been charged with serious criminal offences following a joint investigation led by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC). The CCC was assisted by officers from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Ethical Standards Unit and the Queensland Police Service Financial and Cyber Crime Group.
The latest charges are linked to the previous arrest of a Queensland Fire Inspector who was charged with official corruption in November.
A 50-year-old Warner man was charged on 10 December 2017 with two counts of official corruption contrary to section 87(1)(b) of the Queensland Criminal Code.
A 56-year-old Runaway Bay man was charged on 11 December 2017 with two counts of official corruption contrary to section 87(1)(a) of the Queensland Criminal Code. He was also charged with two counts of money laundering contrary to section 250(1)(b) of the Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002. The 56-year-old was a serving QFES Station Officer and has since been suspended.
A 47-year-old Paradise Point man was charged today with two counts of official corruption contrary to section 87(1)(b) of the Queensland Criminal Code.
It will be alleged in court the three men were involved in corrupt procurement practices.
All three men have been bailed and are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 10 January 2018.
No further charges are expected as a result of the joint agency investigation.
As these matters are now before the court, the CCC, QFES and QPS are unable to comment further.
The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
