A 30-year-old police officer will face 38 criminal charges for the alleged unauthorised use of the QPS Qprime database system.
Following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation, the Constable from the Southern Police Region was today served a Notice To Appear in court to face the following charges:
- 12 x Misconduct in relation to public office contrary to section 92A(1)(c) Queensland Criminal Code 1899, with an alternate charge each of Computer hacking and misuse contrary to section 408E(2) Queensland Criminal Code 1899 –Total of 24 charges
- 1 x Misconduct in relation to public office contrary to section 92A(1)(a) Queensland Criminal Code 1899 with an alternate charge of Computer hacking and misuse contrary to section 408E(2) Queensland Criminal Code 1899 – Total of 2 charges
- 12 x Computer hacking and misuse contrary to section 408E(1) Queensland Criminal Code 1899.
He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 11 April 2016.
As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
