A 53-year-old Gold Coast man is scheduled to appear in court on child exploitation charges following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
CCC investigators, along with officers from the Queensland Police Service’s Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit, searched a property at Palm Beach this morning.
They seized a laptop computer and several portable storage devices, which will be subject to further forensic examination by the CCC.
The 53-year-old man was served with a Notice to Appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 4 November 2015 on the following charges:
- 1 count of possessing child exploitation material, contrary to section 228D Criminal Code (Qld)
- 1 count of using a carriage service to access child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 Criminal Code (Commonwealth)
The CCC’s investigation is ongoing. As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
