The Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC), Queensland Police Service (QPS), Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) will hold a joint press conference in Brisbane today reminding Australians about the dangers of cold-call investment frauds.

The CCC, QPS, ACIC and ASIC will also discuss the law enforcement responses and challenges posed by this crime type. However, the focus of the press conference will be to reach as many prospective Australian investors to alert them to these ongoing scams and educate them on what to do if contacted.

The latest intelligence from a joint CCC-QPS intelligence operation known as Operation Sterling will be outlined at the press conference. Operation Sterling has been focused on cold-call investment fraud activity in Queensland and has primarily used the CCC’s coercive powers to compel individuals to provide information.

For journalists outside of Brisbane, the press conference will be streamed live on the QPS Facebook page .
