A 25-year-old Macleay Island man has been charged with child exploitation offences following an investigation conducted by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
It will be alleged by the CCC that the man was in possession of child exploitation material and was using peer to peer computer software to access child exploitation material, including image and movie files.
CCC officers, with the assistance of members of the Wynnum Child Protection Investigation Unit, executed a search warrant at the residential address on Macleay Island on Monday (November 21).
A number of computer and electronic storage devices were seized and will be forensically examined by the CCC.
The 25-year-old was issued with a Notice To Appear before Cleveland Magistrates Court on 17 January 2017 to face the following charges:
- 1 x Possessing Child Exploitation Material contrary to section 228D Qld Criminal Code 1899;
- 1 x Use a carriage service to access child pornography material contrary to section 474.19(1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995; and
- 1 x Distribute child exploitation material contrary to section 228C Qld Criminal Code 1899.
As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
