Today the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) charged a 40-year-old Longreach man for allegedly possessing child exploitation material.
The CCC will allege the 40-year-old man was using peer to peer computer software to access child exploitation material, including image and movie files.
CCC officers executed a search warrant at a residential address in Longreach today.
A number of computer and electronic storage devices were seized and will be forensically examined by the CCC. The CCC was assisted today in Longreach by the Queensland Police Service.
The man was arrested and formally charged with:
- 2 x Possessing Child Exploitation Material contrary to section 228D Qld Criminal Code 1899;
- 1 x Use a carriage service to access child pornography material contrary to section 474.19 (1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995;
He was bailed with conditions that he has no unsupervised contact with children and is scheduled to appear in the Longreach Magistrates Court on 12 April 2016.
The CCC’s investigation is ongoing. As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
