Ipswich man charged with extortion

A 65-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with extortion following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The man was arrested by the CCC this afternoon in Ipswich and was transported to the Brisbane City Watchhouse where he was formally charged with:

• 1 x extortion contrary to section 415(1)(a)(i)&(b) of the Criminal Code

The 65-year-old man is currently being processed.

As the CCC’s investigation remains ongoing and these matters are now before the court, the CCC is unable to comment further.
