A 35-year-old Churchill man has been charged with extortion following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The man was arrested by the CCC this morning in Ipswich and was transported to the Brisbane City Watchhouse where he was formally charged with:

  • 1 x Extortion contrary to section 415(1)(a)(i)&(b) of the Criminal Code.

The man is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

As the CCC’s investigation remains ongoing and these matters are now before the court, the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
