The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) welcomes the report by the Queensland Organised Crime Commission of Inquiry.
Since May, the CCC has provided a number of in-depth submissions and has responded to requests for information by the Commissioner on a range of topics relevant to the terms of reference.
The CCC is in the process of reviewing the report in its entirety.
The CCC’s initial response is that it is supportive of the recommendations made by the Commissioner aimed at maximising the response to organised crime in Queensland.
A number of the recommendations made in this report are consistent with recommendations the CCC made in its July 2015 submission, and subsequent oral submission, to the ongoing Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee’s (PCCC) review of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001.
The CCC is not in a position to make detailed public comments on the report or recommendations until it has had an opportunity to review the report in its entirety.
