This afternoon the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) issued two men with Notices to Appear in Court as a result of its corruption investigation into Ipswich City Council.

Both men have been previously charged by the CCC.

The Notices were served on the men’s respective legal representatives.

A 66-year-old Brassall man will face nine additional charges including:

  • Eight charges of fraud contrary to section 408C(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and
  • One charge of official corruption contrary to section 87 of the Criminal Code.

He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 13 August 2018.

A 61-year-old Eight Mile Plains man will face one additional charge of official corruption contrary to section 87 of the Criminal Code.

He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 28 August 2018.

The CCC’s investigation has now resulted in 15 people being charged with 86 offences.

As these matters are now before the court, it is not appropriate for the CCC to comment further.

The CCC expects to release its public report into governance failures and cultural issues within the Ipswich City Council next week.
