The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has issued a former police officer with a Notice to Appear in court for allegedly releasing confidential information.

The CCC will allege the 49-year-old Gold Coast man unlawfully accessed the Queensland Police Service database QPrime on fifty separate occasions during his time as a serving police officer for his personal benefit.

The 49-year-old man will face 50 counts of Misconduct in relation to Public Office (Section 92A of the Queensland Criminal Code) alternatively computer hacking (Section 408E(2) of the Queensland Criminal Code).

He is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday 9 September 2015.

As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC will make no further comment.
