A 36-year-old former Helensvale resident has been extradited from Sydney and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow on a range of drug and property charges following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation.

The man, who was refused bail, was charged today with:

  • 1 x trafficking in dangerous drugs contrary to section 5 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986
  • 3 x possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of crime contrary to section 10A of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986
  • 3 x supply dangerous drugs contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986, and
  • 1 x producing dangerous drugs contrary to section 8 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986.

The CCC will allege in court that the man was dealing in methylamphetamine and was found in receipt of $18,000 suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The New South Wales Police and Australian Federal Police assisted the CCC with the extradition from Sydney International Airport.

The charges stem from Operation Gloss, a major investigation commenced by the CCC in 2013.

As this matter is before the court the CCC is unable to comment further.

General details about Operation Gloss are available here.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
