A former and current employee of the Department of Education Training and Employment (DETE) have been served with a Notice to Appear in court on one charge each of misconduct in relation to public office, following an investigation by the former Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC).
In July 2012 the CMC commenced an investigation into allegations about irregularities surrounding the recruitment of a number of staff to DETE.
In March 2014 the CMC finished its investigation and referred a brief of evidence to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for consideration of criminal charges.
After receiving advice from the ODPP last week, the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) today issued a 59-year-old Parkwood woman with a Notice to Appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 4 November 2014 on one charge of misconduct in relation to public office, contrary to section 92A of the Queensland Criminal Code.
On Friday 10 October 2014*, the CCC separately issued a 60-year-old Mermaid Beach man with a Notice to Appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 28 October 2014 on one charge of misconduct in relation to public office, contrary to section 92A of the Queensland Criminal Code.
As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC will make no further comment.
