A 36-year-old Herberton man is scheduled to appear in court today charged with possessing child exploitation material.
During a covert investigation, Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigators allegedly detected the man collecting child exploitation material online.
CCC investigators, with assistance from the Queensland Police Service’s Atherton Child Protection Investigation Unit, searched a property in Herberton on 22 August 2015. They allegedly located a large amount of encrypted child exploitation material on the man’s computer.
On 22 August the man was issued with a Notice to Appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on one count of possessing child exploitation material, contrary to section 228D Criminal Code (Qld). He is scheduled to appear in court today (13 October 2015).
The CCC’s investigation is ongoing. As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
