Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) Chairperson Robert Needham has welcomed Ms Judith Bell to the agency as a new Commissioner.
With more than 30 years’ experience as a teacher in Queensland and the United Kingdom, Ms Bell has extensive experience and knowledge of the public sector and education system.
‘Her knowledge as a teacher and former member of the CMC’s Crime Reference Committee will be of great benefit to the agency,’ Mr Needham said.
‘Each of our part-time Commissioners bring with them a wealth of community and business knowledge, and with Ms Bell’s expertise in education and the welfare of children, her contributions to the organisation’s decisions will be highly valued.’
Ms Bell has a Diploma in Teaching, a Bachelor of Education Studies and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.
Ms Bell is on the Board of Trustees for the Brisbane Grammar School, as well as a member of the University of Queensland’s Senate.
In 2003, she was one of the University of Queensland’s recipients of the Centenary Medal commemorating 100 years of Federation and for people who have made a contribution to Australian society or government.
The CMC comprises a full-time Chairperson and four part-time Commissioners who ensure the agency achieves the purposes of the Crime and Misconduct Act 2001.
