Crime and Misconduct Commission Chairperson Martin Moynihan AO QC was advised of the state government’s intention to reappoint the Queensland Police Commissioner just prior to the announcement.

Subsequent to the brief conversation with the Police Minister, Mr Moynihan drew the Minister’s attention to the requirements under the Police Service Administration Act 1990 which states that the CMC Chairperson must agree to the recommendation for the appointment.

The Chairperson must also agree to the conditions on which the appointment as Police Commissioner is held.

Over the past two months Mr Moynihan has been in communication with the Police Minister and has held a meeting to discuss the Police Commissioner’s reappointment.
