On 15 May, the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) referred criminal allegations against a Gold Coast doctor to the Queensland Police Service.
The move follows a recommendation by retired Justice of Queensland Court of Appeal, Richard Chesterman AO RFD QC, as part of his ongoing assessment of a series of allegations about medical matters that may reveal misconduct.
Mr Chesterman was engaged to conduct a preliminary assessment of the allegations after the Parliamentary Crime and Misconduct Committee referred a complaint to the CMC to investigate on 24 April.
His recommendation to refer one of the doctors named in the complaint to the Queensland Police Service is based on an examination of related allegations and collection of available material.
Mr Chesterman is continuing his assessment of all other allegations raised by the complainant to establish a framework for investigation.
