A 27-year-old current serving Constable from the Central Region was today charged with two criminal offences following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation.

It will be alleged by the CCC that the Constable carried out a number of unauthorised searches of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Qprime database system. It will be further alleged he disclosed confidential information to associates.

During the CCC’s investigation it also identified that the officer allegedly attempted to pervert the course of justice following a routine traffic interception of a friend by the QPS in Brisbane.

The officer was served with a Notice To Appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on 14 December 2016 to face the following charges:

  • 1 x Misconduct in relation to public office contrary to section 92A(1)(a) Queensland Criminal Code 1899; and
  • 1 x Attempt to pervert justice contrary to section 140 Queensland Criminal Code 1899.

As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
