The Crime and Corruption Commission is currently investigating a number of separate allegations relating to the former Mayor of Townsville, Troy Thompson. The investigation is close to conclusion and can continue pursuant to section 16(1)(c) of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 irrespective of Mr Thompson’s resignation.
The Crime and Corruption Commission disclosed information relating to the investigation to the Honourable Ann Leahy MP pursuant to section 60(2) of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 to assist her in carrying out her functions and duties under the Local Government Act 2009 as the responsible Minister.
Until such time as the investigation is finalised, the Crime and Corruption Commission does not propose to comment further.
The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
