A 31-year-old serving male Sergeant from the Brisbane Police Prosecution Corps was today served with a notice to appear in court for the alleged unauthorised use of a Queensland Police Service (QPS) QPRIME database.

The CCC will allege that on ten occasions in 2016 the officer accessed QPRIME   to undertake checks that were for a personal purpose and not for authorised work purposes.

The officer is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 19 June 2017 to face the following charges:

  • 9 x Computer Hacking and Misuse pursuant to Section 408E (2) of the Queensland Criminal Code 1899.
  • 1 x Abuse of Office pursuant to Section 92A of the Queensland Criminal Code 1899.

The CCC has notified the QPS Ethical Standards Command about the charges.

As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
