Two men and a woman were today served Notices to Appear in court on 55 criminal charges following an ongoing Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) organised crime investigation known as Operation Altana.
Operation Altana targeted a high-threat organised crime syndicate allegedly involved in the production, supply and trafficking of crystal methamphetmaine (ice) and cocaine on the Gold Coast.
A 43-year-old Surfers Paradise woman was served a Notice to Appear in court to face the following offences:
- 5 x supply Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 1 x possess Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 2 x possess proceeds of crime (Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002)
A 53-year-old Helensvale man was served a Notice to Appear in court to face the following offences:
- 1 x trafficking Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 26 x Possess Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 5 x supply Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 2 x possess restricted drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986) and 5 x possess proceeds of crime (Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002)
A 24 year-old Burleigh Waters man was served a Notice to Appear in court to face the following offences:
- 1 x trafficking Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 4 x supply Dangerous Drug (Drugs Misuse Act 1986), 3 x possess proceeds of crime (Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002)
All three people, who have not been previously charged by the CCC, are expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on 17 August 2017.
The CCC made a number of arrests in January and February 2017 related to an alleged ice production site at Main Beach where ice was allegedly cut, recrystallised, and then packaged for distribution. See previous media release.
Whilst these matters are before the court, the CCC cannot comment further.
