The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has charged a 68-year-old Gold Coast man with possessing, accessing and sharing child exploitation material (CEM).

Following a covert investigation, detectives from the CCC’s Cerberus Unit, with assistance from the Queensland Police Service’s Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit, searched an Arundel property yesterday.

A number of computer storage devices were located and seized. The CCC will allege they contained child exploitation images and videos.

The man was arrested and bailed to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 29 June 2015 on the following offences:

  • 4 counts of Possessing child exploitation material, contrary to section 228D Queensland Criminal Code 1899
  • 1 count of Using a carriage service to access child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995
  • 1 count of Using a carriage service to make available child pornography material, contrary to section 474.19 Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995

The investigation is ongoing.

As the matter is now before the courts, the CCC is unable to comment further.
