A 67-year-old Brisbane man will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on 14, June 2017, charged with alleged child exploitation offences following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The man was identified by the CCC during an ongoing investigation that is focused on individuals accessing and distributing child exploitation material online.

CCC detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s Wilston home on Wednesday 10 May 2017, and were assisted by members of the Queensland Police Service North Brisbane Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU).

It will be alleged a quantity of child exploitation material, including video and image files were located at the man’s house. Detectives allegedly seized over 60 exhibits for further forensic examination.

The man was issued with a notice to appear in court on the following charges:

  • 3 x s.474.19(1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) Use a carriage service to make available child pornography material (Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995)
  • 1 x s.228D Possessing Child Exploitation Material (Queensland Criminal Code 1899);
  • 1 x s.474.19(1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) Use a carriage service to access child pornography material (Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995).

Now that a notice to appear has been issued it is not appropriate for the CCC to comment further at this time.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
