The Crime and Corruption Commission’s (CCC) 2023-24 Annual Report has been tabled in State Parliament today by the Attorney-General.
The report summarises the CCC’s activities, achievements and performance for the financial year ending 30 June 2024, and highlights the breadth of work undertaken by the CCC to combat major crime and reduce corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
Key outcomes for the 2023-24 financial year include:
- Holding 136 days of hearings relating to major crime and intelligence investigations, with 113 witnesses examined
- Concluding 19 confiscation matters, with $10.514 million of proceeds of crime forfeited to the State
- Tabling our review of the Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002, which included 10 recommendations to Government that seek to improve the Act and how it operates
- Assessing 5,139 complaints of suspected corruption, an increase of 28 per cent from last year
- Running a joint campaign with the Office of the Independent Assessor and the Electoral Commission in the lead-up to local government elections in March
- Finalising 46 corruption investigations
- Continuing to respond to and implement the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry and other external inquiries and reviews
- Continuing to build critical capabilities to enhance our ability to respond to a complex and evolving operating environment.
