Information for the media

Sign-in procedures

Members of the media are welcome to attend the public forum. Standard security measures for government buildings apply at the CCC’s premises. Anyone attending the forum will be required to adhere to these.

When you arrive on Level 2, identify yourself to reception staff as member of the media.

For workplace health and safety reasons, you will be required to produce photographic identification to enter the public forum.

Following sign-in, the CCC Media Officer will accompany you to the designated seating area for the media in the public gallery.

Attendance for part-days / one-off Speakers

If members of the media are only interested in attending one particular speaker’s submission, please note it is preferable you arrive at the beginning of that session, as opposed to arriving mid-session to hear the speaker.

Interviews

It is not permissible for media to conduct interviews with speakers or members of the public inside the CCC building.

Media are welcome to conduct interviews with speakers or members of the public outside of the CCC building. Please note if you leave the CCC building you will be required to pass through security again if you are returning to the public forum.

Inside the public forum

  • The public forum will be live-streamed. Therefore, silent mode is to be activated on all personal devices whilst inside the room. This includes phones, tablets, computers. If your device does not have a silent mode then please turn it off.
  • No interviews are to be conducted inside the hearing room.
  • Media are not permitted to talk with speakers inside the hearing room.
  • If media wish to interview a member of the panel, they should make an interview request to the CCC Media Officer in attendance or via the CCC Media Unit at  [email protected] or 07 3360 6000.
  • If media wish to interview a speaker, it may be beneficial to arrange this prior to your attendance at the public forum.
  • Please ensure that you remain within the designated media section at all times and ensure that your accreditation is visible.

Social media / Online reporting

The use of social media including live updating via Twitter and Facebook is allowed. However, please be aware there may be times during the forum when the Chairperson issues a non-publication order. Media are responsible for their own comments and responsible for adhering to any non-publication orders.

Photography

There will be limited opportunities for photographers to photograph panel members and speakers. Please contact the CCC Media Officer in attendance to ensure you are escorted to an appropriate location.

Video / Camera pooling

The CCC will contact TV networks prior to the public forum and offer a pooling arrangement. Please note there is not enough room for individual TV networks to set up.
