CMC considers allegations of electoral bribery — 25.11.2005

The Electoral Commissioner today provided the Crime and Misconduct Commission with a copy of a statement from Ms Elisa Roberts MP relating to the allegations of electoral bribery referred to in the Resolution of the Queensland Parliament yesterday.

After carefully considering the material, the CMC has come to the conclusion that it has no jurisdiction to investigate the matter.

The conduct of the person, who allegedly made the offer, was not done so in their capacity as a member of parliament and, therefore, could not amount to official misconduct.
