Three plead guilty in closure of CMC Operation Mars — 14.11.2008

Two former Department of Public Works Officers have pleaded guilty to charges of official corruption and/or fraud arising from a CMC investigation into false invoices paid for painting work not performed.

Robin BROWN today pleaded guilty in the District Court to one count of fraud and Bradley GOODWIN pleaded guilty to one charge of fraud and one of official corruption.

A third man, Christopher CREEDY, a principal of Brisbane and West Painting Pty Ltd, yesterday entered a guilty plea to one count of fraud and one count of official corruption.

The charges allege that Brown and Goodwin were involved in approving the payment of the painting company’s invoices, which falsely claimed for work valued in excess of $230,000.

The trial of the three men was to have started before the District Court next week.

The trio has been remanded to appear for sentencing on 20 Feb 2009.
