CMC welcomes new Commissioner — 06.11.2008

A former judge of the District Court of Queensland has been appointed a Commissioner of the Crime and Misconduct Commission.

CMC Chairperson Robert Needham has welcomed Mr Philip Nase, whose legal experience spans 39 years, including 17 years as a Crown prosecutor, after which he practiced as a barrister at the private Bar, and  almost 15 years as a District Court judge.

Mr Nase will assist the five-member Commission which sets the CMC’s corporate policy and strategic directions.

‘The Commission is very pleased to have a person of Mr Nase’s extensive legal experience as one of its members,’ Mr Needham said.

‘He will make a significant contribution to the Commission, which bears the legal responsibility for all CMC functions, determines policy and makes important decisions on the conduct of hearings and the issuing of reports.’

The Commission comprises a full-time Chairperson and four part-time Commissioners.
