Woman facing charges for supplying, trafficking and possessing ice - 29 January 2016

A 39-year-old Ashmore woman will face 16 criminal charges for allegedly trafficking and supplying crystal methylamphetamine (ice).

The charges are a result of the Crime and Corruption Commission’s (CCC) ongoing investigation known as Operation Gloss.

It will be alleged by the CCC that the woman trafficked, supplied, and possessed crystal methylamphetamine throughout the Gold Coast region in 2014.

She was last night served a Notice To Appear in court to face the following charges:

  • 1 x trafficking in dangerous drugs, namely methylamphetamine, contrary to section 5 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986
  • 14 x supply a dangerous drug, namely methylamphetamine, contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986
  • 1 x unlawful possession of a dangerous drug, namely methylamphetamine, contrary to section 9 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986

She is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 18 February 2016.

Operation Gloss commenced in 2014 and was focused on the Queensland-based activities of a criminal syndicate that was producing and distributing crystal methylamphetamine in Sydney and the Gold Coast. The investigation was conducted jointly with New South Wales Police to ensure the successful dismantling of the network which was impacting both states.

The CCC has previously charged two other men as a result of Operation Gloss. See previous media releases: 14 January 2016 and 28 January 2016.

As this investigation remains ongoing and these matters are now before the court, the CCC is unable to make any further comment.
