Two Brisbane men to face fraud, forgery and uttering offences - 24 August

Two Brisbane men were today served with Notices to Appear in court in relation to fraud, forge and utter charges following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation.

A 53-year-old former University of Queensland employee from Moggill faces four charges:

  • 2 x fraud to dishonestly gain a benefit or advantage contrary to section 408C (1) (a) (ii) and (2) (b) of the Criminal Code;
  • 1 x forge contrary to section 488 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code and
  • 1 x utter contrary to section 488 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code.

A 53-year-old Eatons Hill man faces two charges:

  • 1 x forge contrary to section 488 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code and
  • 1 x utter contrary to section 488 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code.

The CCC will allege that the fraud charges relate to the misuse of a university travel card and the forge and utter charges relate to the issuing of a false invoice.

Both men are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 11 September 2017.

As these matters are now before the Court, the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
