South Eastern Region police officer charged with misconduct and perjury offences - 7 September 2017

A 44-year-old South Eastern Region Superintendent was this morning charged with misconduct in relation to public office and perjury following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) into allegations relating to the employment of a person to a position within the Queensland Police Service (QPS).

The CCC will allege the three counts of perjury were committed at an investigative hearing conducted as part of a CCC investigation.

The woman was charged at the Southport Watchhouse this morning with:

  • 1 x misconduct in relation to public office contrary to section 92A(1)(c) of the Queensland Criminal Code
  • 3 x perjury contrary to section 123 of the Queensland Criminal Code.

The woman was bailed and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 21 September 2017.

The CCC has advised the QPS Ethical Standards Command.

As these matters are now before the court, the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
