NSW man extradited to face serious drug offences – 26 July 2019

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) yesterday successfully sought the extradition of a 48-year-old Mount Druitt man from New South Wales to Queensland for his alleged involvement in a drug-trafficking syndicate uncovered during Operation Gloss.

Operation Gloss was a CCC investigation, finalised in April 2015, that targeted a drug syndicate which was trafficking the dangerous drug ice on the Gold Coast. Operation Gloss led to the arrest of 18 people on 204 charges and seizures of cocaine, methylamphetamines and other drugs with an estimated value of $3.9 million.

It will be alleged the man was a principle participant in the syndicate responsible for the production and trafficking of ice from New South Wales into Queensland, primarily on the Gold Coast.

The man appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today where he was formally charged with one count of trafficking dangerous drugs, 12 charges of supplying dangerous drugs and three charges of possessing dangerous drugs. He was remanded in custody.

As this matter is before the court, it is not appropriate for the CCC to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
