Ipswich man charged with child exploitation offences - 12 July 2017

A 37-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with child exploitation and drug offences following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

The CCC executed a search warrant on the man’s Ipswich property yesterday and he was charged at the Ipswich Watchhouse with:

  • 1 x Possessing Child Exploitation Material (s.228D - Qld Criminal Code);
  • 1 x Use a carriage service to access child pornography material (s.474.19 (1)(a)(i)&(aa)(b) - Commonwealth Criminal Code 1995);
  • 1 x Distributing Child Exploitation Material (s.228C - Qld Criminal Code);
  • 1 x Possession of Dangerous Drug (s.9 - Drugs Misuse Act 1986);
  • 1 x Possession of utensils used in connection with the smoking of a Dangerous Drug (s.10(2)(b) Drugs Misuse Act 1986).

The man was bailed and is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 25 July 2017.

The CCC was assisted in the arrest by members of the Queensland Police Service’s Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit.

As these matters are now before the court the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
