Former Gold Coast man extradited to face drug charges - 11 October 2017

A 28-year-old former Gold Coast resident has been extradited from Melbourne and is expected to appear in court today on a range of drug charges following a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with:

  • 1 x Trafficking dangerous drugs contrary to section 5 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986;
  • 6 x Supplying dangerous drugs contrary to section 6 of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986; and
  • 6 x possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of crime contrary to section 10A of the Drugs Misuse Act 1986.

The CCC will allege in court that the man was dealing in methyl amphetamine and was found in receipt of $25,000 cash and three vehicles suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police assisted the CCC with the extradition.

The charges stem from the CCC’s Operation Amulet, a major investigation commenced by the CCC in 2014.

As these matters are now before the court the CCC is unable to comment further.

The CCC is an independent agency combating major crime and reducing corruption for the benefit of the Queensland community.
