CCC determines not to investigate approval of Acland Stage 3 - 4.12.2015

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has completed its assessment of a complaint from the Lock The Gate Alliance relating to allegations that political donations and other gifts influenced the decision to approve the New Hope Acland Stage 3 mine expansion and the Colton Coal mine project.

The CCC has determined it will not investigate the matter.

Following receipt of the complaint on 25 August 2015, the CCC has undertaken a thorough assessment and considered a large volume of information. Some of this information was provided by the complainant. The CCC also made its own inquiries, sourced other information relevant to the assessment and liaised with a number of public sector agencies.

Based on the thorough assessment of the available information, the CCC considers there is insufficient evidence to support the allegations and insufficient evidence to raise a reasonable suspicion of any criminal offence.

The CCC will therefore take no further action.

The relevant parties have been advised of the decision.
