CCC public hearing – local government elections 2016 (Operation Belcarra)

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) is holding a public hearing as part of Operation Belcarra, an investigation into the conduct of candidates involved in the 2016 local government elections for the Gold Coast City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Ipswich City Council.

The purpose of the Inquiry is to gather information about possible criminal offences to support Operation Belcarra and to also canvass broader issues related to corruption and integrity in local government.

The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00am on Tuesday 18 April 2017, with CCC Chairperson Alan MacSporran QC as Presiding Officer.

Information for attendees

Security procedures apply at the CCC’s premises. Anyone attending the hearing will be required to adhere to these. This includes security screening. Access to the public gallery will be available from 9:30am. Only small bags such as laptop cases or handbags will be allowed in the public gallery. A locker for large bags will be available to store items whilst you are inside the hearing room.

Please note aerosols, sharp objects, banners/signs and food are not permitted in the public gallery.
