Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) to operate from 1 July 2014

The Crime and Corruption Commission will operate from 1 July 2014 to combat crime and corruption.

From that date, the following changes will take effect.

Legislation

The Crime and Corruption Act 2001 comes into effect as the governing piece of legislation for the CCC.

Governance of the CCC

The governance structure of the CCC will consist of a Commission comprising a Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, a part-time Deputy Chairman and two part-time ordinary commissioners.

Crime function

There is no legislative change to the CCC’s Crime function.

Corruption function

A new jurisdiction and framework for the CCC will focus its resources on serious and systemic corruption.

Details of how to report corrupt conduct, or to provide information to the CCC will be available on the website from 1 July.
